This was a window in one of the Suzhou gardens in China. The base of the windows were as elaborately carved, but darker. The pattern against the light from the windows showed up best. We took lots of pictures like this, which have gone to the contemplative part of my brain. Some day in the future, I will make a quilt and be able to trace it back to this picture which inspired the new design.
You never know what will strike the fancy in the future. We covered our bases by taking 2500 pictures between us.
